Besides being at the crosswalks during the time children are going to and from school, Marshall Smith has placed ped- - - safe-guar- d LoRcn Orton, For Council Hears Request City Brent Lovell Speak Vows Enforcement Of Ordinance A delegation from the Paro- wan Chamber of Commerce met with the City Council at their Monday nightmeeting and discussed with them the enforcement of the recently, adopted Greenriver Ordinance and zoning ordinances for the u Chamber representatives asked that action toward enforcement of the Greenriver Ordinance be taken, and that a zoning ordithe city ad nance, particularly the establishment of an extended fire zone, and an industrial 7one in the city. The council agreed to both of these requests, but stated that the aid of citizens would be necessary in the enforcement of the ordinance.. They called upon residents to report the presence of peddlers in the city to the city office so that appropriate steps may be taken to insure that they have procured a license before soliciting orders or selling merchandise in towg. I PHS Coach Opening Socials Slated By Ward Relief Societies Last Rites Held For John C Evans Funeral services for John Calvin Evans, 73 were held Monday Sept. 16 in the Parowan Third Ward Chapel under the direction of Bishop Howard M. Adams. Mr. Evans passed away the previous Thursday following a lingering illness. John Calvin Evans was born May 29, 1884 in Parowan to Thomas A. and Fhebe Ann Pendleton Evans. He married Carrie Osbourne in Beaver, Nov. 9. 1909. The marriage was later solemnized in the St George LDS Temple. He was first counsellor in the bishopric for 23 years, and served in the Ward Sunday School Superintendency for many years. He married Susanne Top-hain the St. George Temple April 30, 1885. He is a graduate of Murray High School where he was All State in Basketball and received his letter in four High School sports. He then served three years in the Air Force, spending his time here in the USA and in Japan. Coach Wood attended the CSU for two years and was lettered in four sports both years. He made all conference in football, honorable mention Junior College All American; All star Team for the region in basketball. He was active in baseball and track. He then attended the BYU t and was active in football for those two years. Choch Wood is married and he and his wife Virginia have two little boys, Brady, 3years old and Scott 1 year old. They consulted their doctors and also visited the State Fair. Mrs. Maude Wiley of Anti mony, Utah spent Saturday I , " I 'j v Word has been received of the birth of a baby daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Grant Morten son Sept. 12. The Mortensons live in Reseda Calif. They have four other children. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Mortenson ' are paternal grandparents. 1950. He has a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Abbott, and a son, Thomas A. Robinson both of Paragonah; 12 grand children; 33 great grandchildren and 3 J al m great great grandchildren. Uncle Tom" says he cant remember too well, but he remembers when there wasnt a home in Paragonah. He says the old fort was built where the present church stands. The gate was on the north side. The walls were made of mud and rocks, since the settlers were afraid to go into the hills for timber on account of the Indians. The fort was 100 feet spuare. The cattle corral was located on the property where Amasa Stones now lives, and the sheep corral was on the property that I 19 grondchild-son Parow'an. ren and 1 great grandchild. She was active in student government, having served as president of the Sorority Council Mr. Lovell is a graduteof Delta High School, and has attended Dixie Jr. College and CSU. He served a tour of duty with the U.S. Air Force and has been employed at the AEC Test Site in Nevada during the summer. After a brief honeymoon, they will make their home in Logan, where Mr. Lovell will continue his schooling at -- ' S' visiting here with her niece, Mrs Clara Warner and Marilyn Warner.
