It teaches future genera ions w here they came from and set the path for the future. One wity to pass this history on hits been through monuments and markers that tell in simplified version, the story of an area. Emery County is rich in history. There are thousands of ancient markers in the form of pictographs and petroglyphs that tell the story of the early people in the area, forty two modern day monuments and markers tell the story of those who followed. Twenty-on- e of these tell of the Old Spanish Trail and the mark that these tell of the early Spanish explorers had on the area. Tw enty-onset tlingof tin county. These modern day markers have been erected by a variety of groups to preserve and pass on the rich history that is Emery County. Eleven of these were ('rented by the Daughters of Hit1 Ctah Pioneers and 20 by the Boy Scouts and American and private groups. The Daughters of the Eta h Pioneers exists to preserve Utah's pioneer history and the struggles these early people made in settling this area.
