Many people remember last year at state when Emery played Lehi for the state championship, and many people remember the results of the game, so for Emery fans it was nice to see,Emery at least let the Pioneers knowthat it will be a different story this year. The game was last Wednesday night, and the final score was 58-5- 1. Ben Luce, playing sick, did not have the scoring output he had the previous week against Carbon, but he did have a very crucial 13 points to help Emery overcome Lehi. Leading the Spartans in this game was junior Brad Roundy with 19 points. Brad said, It was good for me to help out the team tonight. Emery then played, and thoroughly thumped, the Delta Rabbits on Friday. Emery did have a hard time the last time they played the Rabbits in Delta, winning by just two points. It was a very different story this time around. Emery led Delta throughout the duration of the game and won by a final score of Leading the Spartans in this game was senior Cole Pitchforth with 16 points. Two other seniors also contributed double64-4- 4. digit points. Luce' had i Wkn 15, and teams right there that could give us a hard time. The new Spartan Center has been very kind to the boys team this season. Emery has only lost one game there- - to North Sanpete. That loss made us realize we have to play each game; we just cant show up and expect to win, coach Todd Jeffs said. The Spartans now proudly own a 14-- record overall and are currently ranked in The Salt Lake Tribune as the No. 2 team in 3A. When asked if this record creates any kind of an attitude or creates pressure, coach Jeffs said, No. We have had just as tough a time in region games as we have had in nonregion games. Us, Canyon View and Bear River are real solid teams this year. There are four or five other 2 Lehis win. st Overall, the team is healthy, but there are a few players sick and also some with aching bodies, but look for Emery to continue Its winning this Wednesday in a nonconference game. The team will then play at No. Sanpete on Friday. up-comi- Emery Telephone I member of the pep band, web staff and Math Club, Tracy Druce enjoys his chemistry, math and band classes at Emery High.
