The safest way to enjoy Halloween is to consider attending a school, church, or community party or other organized event, but if your children are going house to house collecting candy, the American College of Emergency Physicians has some important tips to help keep them safe. Serious injuries that occur on Halloween night may include burns from flammable costumes, collisions with cars, and eye abrasions from sharp objects, said Dr. David Vukich of the American College of Emergency Physicians. To help prevent a trip to the emergency department, make sure that little are always accompanied by an adult arH tlvjf nldor trick-or-treatin- g, Halloween is just around the corner. Along with many Emery County homes, this home is decorated with orange and black colors. Children of the family and their friend sets up decorations in front of the house to be ready for Halloween. trick-or-treate- rs when to be home and where to reach an adult, and have quarters to call home. Here are additional safety tips from the American College of Emergency Physicians: Trick or treat in your neighborhood, where you know the neighbors. Dont go to unfamiliar places and consider going during daylight hours. Only visit homes with decorations and porch lights on. Insist that children show you all their goodies before they sample them. Inspect candy for tampering, and never eat fruit, unwrapped items, or candy not in its original wrapper. Have children wear costumes with light, bright colors that will be clearly visible to motorists; attach reflective tape to increase visibility at night. Make sure that costumes including wigs, masks, and beards are flame-resistan- t, 1 and remind children to stay away from open flames from candles and Jack OLanterns. Make sure that masks do not impair vision. Avoid costumes with big, baggy sleeves; billowing skirts; or long, dragging hems that could cause someone to trip. Make sure that swords, knives, and other costume accessories are made out of flexible material. Make sure wear sturdy, trick-o- r treaters shoes. High heels can cause accidents for those not used to wearing well-fittin- g them. Remind children to walk on the sidewalks, not the Dracula and his friends will be at SRJH Oct. 28 29 -- For thrilling, chilling excitement join the San Rafael Junior High Drama students in three rousing plays, Dracula, The Viper and The Capri ous Pearls for Halloween. The plays will be performed Oct. 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. There will be a matinee for the students at 8:30 a m. on Oct. 28. Mysterious creatures will l greet you in Dracula as Max Thatcher, Morgan Malone, Chris Skinner, Casey Johnson, Sarah Jorgensen, Earl Rojas, Jamie Hansen, Jasmin Snow and Whitney Winn perform. The strange disappearances will keep you wondering in The Viper as 27 students are on stage for a rousing mini SHOP IN EMERY COUNTY THIS YEAR and enter our streets, and to be careful crossing the streets. Remind children never to accept rides from strangers. Remind children to always be polite; to say thank you when they get candy, even if its not the kind they like; and to let little kids go first.
