OBITUARIES Agnes Malencik Katherine Vatsis SPRING GLEN - Agnes Mary Lesar Malencik, age 94, passed away Nov. 21, 1996 from complications of a fall. Married Jacob Malencik. He passed away Aug. 11, 1969. Survived by children, Sylvia, SALT LAKE CITYPRICE Katherine Bizakis Vatsis, age 96, passed away Nov. 20, 1996 in Westminister, Calif. She was born Nov. 12, 1900 in Neo Horio Crete, Greece, daughter of John and Athena Malonas Bizakis. She emigrated to the U.S. in 1921 and was proud to become a U.S. citizen. Married George J. Vatsis on July 1, 1923 in Salt Lake City at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. He died in May -- Evelyn Heil Evelyn Marshall Hayes Heil, age 64, died Nov. 18, 1996 in Price. Born Sept. 25, 1932 in Spring Glen, daughter of James Brooks HELPER 1955. Member Greek Orthodox Church, where she was a Daughter of Minos and a member of Hellenic Ladies Club. Longtime resident of Carbon County prior to moving to Salt Lake City in 1957 and later moving to California in 1991. Mom was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She was also talented at sewing and crocheting. She loved gardening and raising chickens. She loved her family dearly. Survived by three daughters, two sons and spouses, Irene Shearer, Long Beach, Calif.; Athena and Lanny Davis, Salt Lake City; Ethel Vatsis, Hunting-toBeach, Calif.; John and Mary Vatsis, Dallas, Texas; Nick and n Betty Vatsis, Salt Lake City. Married Ancelia (Sheila) Marinoni March 27, 1933, Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church in Price. Member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, where he was fourth degree Knight of Columbus. Mario came to the U.S. in 1908, after which he was a longtime resident and businessman in Price and Helper. During the depression, he worked as a butcher at the Square Deal Store in Helper and also sold fruits and vegetables to the various coal camps. In 1940, he started his business career by building the Midway Service Station and Motel in Carbonville and was also involved with his partners in the Starlite Drive In Theatre in East Carbon, the Price and Cinema Theatres and the Bonnie Theatre and Bonnie Bowling Alley in Helper.
