Show 6A Emery County Progress Tuesday, April 21, 1992 SPORTS All teams at 2-- 2 Spartans drop game to tighten standings Editor's note: Uintah defeated Wasatch late last week in Region 7 baseball. As a result, every team in the region has a record going into this weeks action. 2-- 2 CASTLE DALE Region 7 is proving to be a whacky baseball league with no team sur- facing as the front-runne- r. That became apparent last e week when teams Emery, Union and Lehi each lost to put the standings into an unusual twist. Wasatch, which had played one fewer game in the region, took the lead with a 1 mark while Emery, Union, Lehi and Carbon stood at Uintah, which was to play Wasatch later in the week, was in last place at first-plac- 2-- 2-- 1-- 2. 2. The Spartans came close to taking sole possession of first but lost at home to Carbon 10-- 9 on Tuesday. Emery bounced back from that game to take a 13-- 1 win over Millard in nonleague action on Wednesday. Emery will play two more important league games this week as the team travels to Lehi today (Tuesday) and then hosts Wasatch on Friday as the second round of league play gets underway. base hit. Earlier in the inning, Wade Gordon was hit by a pitch with two outs but advanced to third on wild pitches and scored the tying run on a wild pitch. Emery had just two hits in the game, one each by Kevin Northrup and Buzz Rondinel-li- , but Spartans got good pitching from Landon Jacobsen and Jason Bennett who combined to it the Dinos. Jacobsen, Northrup and Tommy Eden had two hits each as Emery combined for 13 hits in the game. Emery held the lead Carbon defeats Emery girls CASTLE DALE The Carbon Lady Dinos came to Emery County with an undefeated softball record, and they left Emery County with an undefeated softball record last Tuesday as they defeated Emery 1 in region action. 4-- 9-- It was the first loss in the league by the Lady Spartans who now have a 1 record with games this week at Lehi on Tuesday and at home against Wasatch on Friday. 3-- J The last two weekends have been busy for many of the club members. Several of the members traveled to Grantsville and Tooele on April 10 and 11 to compete. Following are those who were successful in their events at Tooele: Casey Jensen was second in saddle bronc and Leon McElprang was third. and eighth in breakaway roping. Thee Grantsville results were not available.
