Most of the food is homemade and the menu includes breakfast and Lake City are given. There are currently 10 members in the Elmo chapter although just five attend regularly. The secretarytreasurer said that the breakfastlunch is the only fundraiser the organization now sponsors although in the past, the DUP has held bazaars and craft sales. Other community-servic- e projects have included the mapping of the citys cemetery. Eva Tucker, captain of the Elmo chapter, said that the breakfastlunch doesnt bring in much money for the DUP but that the funds help pay expenses of the building. Mostly, she points out, the meals are made available as a service to the community. The meals are offered at the DUP building for the first two Saturdays of the pheasant hunt each year. This year the second weekend is coming up on Nov.9, and the meals will be served from 7 a.m. until people quit coming in the evening. The DUP building is a warm, cordial place which has electricity but not plumbing. It includes several antiques and relics, including the wood- - lunch foods, drinks and homemade candy and pies. Mrs. Willson said that the DUP will sell over 100 pies each weekend. Although the Elmo chapter is going strong, Mrs. Willson said that there is always a need for new members, and she said that there are several women in the Elmo area who qualify. To be in the DUP, a woman must be 18 and an ancestor to a settler in Utah who came before the railroad was established in 1869. Mrs. Willson, who is th e old- est active member, has received her Heritage Certificate, indicating that she is among three generations of members in the DUP. Her grandmother, Ellen Philling Winder Snow, was a member as well as her daughter, Lana Christensen of Escalante. Mrs. Snow is the daughter of Sara Bedford who came across the plains to settle in Utah in the 1800s. Mrs. Willson has been a member since 1958. mannzss 'STARITHRATREA Now Playing Call for Show Times nr ffininmra Call 687-927- for movies coming 5 J ifettaerta & -- 2- FAMILY STORE AND 135 N.
