Price last Wednesday at Ferron Elementary. Dr. Glenn, the Utah State office of Education music specialist, and Dr. Livingston, the Three honored by district HUNTINGTON Three of the employees Emery CounSchool District have been ty honored as Employees of the Month for October. The announcement came in the Oct. 16, school board meeting at the district office. The award winners are Madelei Thompson, elementary teacher; Jessica Jenkins, secondary teacher; and Robert D. Price, classified employee. Each was presented a plaque and a check for $50 by the school board. " Mrs. Thompson has taught four years as a kindergarten teacher and two years as a fourth grade teacher. Her citation notes that she teaches at Ferron Elementary and is recognized by her colleagues as being a viable team member in any educational endeavor. She is an Emery District mentor teacher and exhibits exceptional mastery teaching abilities. These skills are further enhanced by her dedication and determination to make each day productive in the lives of her students. She has an incredible ability to cultivate goodwill among staff and students, and through these qualities she creates a climate conducive to student learning. Jenkins, an educator at the Green River High School, has been described by district officials as a terrific music teacher, a peer coach, a Peer Helper counselor, and a school leader who is ready and willing to participate in any Mrs. educational event. She often supplies the initiative and creativity to promote effective educational experiences in her school and community. Mrs. Jenkins can be found before school, during school and after school working to make the school experience leads music while Dr. Livingston reads a program at Ferron Elementary. Dr. Glenn state reading specialist, teamed up for a workshop titled, The Hills Are Alive With the Sound of Reading. They showed teachers how to correlate reading and music instruction to develop such meaningful for all students at Green River High. She has taught for 14 years in the Green River schools. reading skills as Mr. Price is the head custodian at Ferron Elementary School and has been employed in the district for six years. The district officials note that this past summer it was not unusual to see Mr. Price working in the school building after midnight. In fact, they note that during the referbishing of the elementary building and with the arrival of school supplies which needed to be stored temporarily outside, Mr. Price pulled his camp trailer on the school site and slept on campus. He definitely dedicates his time to insure a secure and comfortable environment for teaching and learning. Angie enjoys speech and drama and has one of fa mam parts in fa upcoming musical at SRJR She plays the piano and likes to play tennis and basketball fix fun. Jay Stilson is a 9th grader at San Rafael. He enjoys school and is a membar of fa National Jr. Honor Society excelling in Math, Science and Language Arts. He was invited to participate in the National Academe Gifted and Talented talent search last year. He loves to play basebaR, football and basketball and has been a starling player on many Teams. He likes scouting and will be receiving his Eagle Scout award very soon. He is fa son of Lewis & Leigh Stilson of Orangeville. Dr. Livingston introduced the teachers to many books that are excellent pieces of lit- music instruction. She even held a drawing and left six of the books with teachers for use in Emery classrooms. Some of these traditional stories are ones all teachers know, but they may have not considered using for music.
