Show iwy "Hyvyi Emery County Progress Wednesday, June Temple holds rededication MANTI After more than three years of renovation and restoration, the century-ol- which provided the original temple building materials, Mr. Fetzer said. Part of the renovation project was the planting of new trees, installation of a new sprinkling system and a new fence around the temple grounds. Of special interest is the new carpeting in the temples Celestial Room. Athough the room had been recarpeted several times over the years, a remnant of the original carpeting laid in the room a century ago was found in a Manti residence. The decision was made to produce an athentic reproduction and the remnant was sent to a mill in England which is one of few in the world with a loom capable of producing the required 27 colors and shades. The Celestial Room carpet now adds a delighful touch of authenticity to the restoraton of Mrs. Jacobsen the temple, said. One of the new sealing rooms n features a valuable Persian carpet donated to the church several years ago by Mr. and Mrs. Milton A. Barlow of Chevy Chase, Maryland. This lovely Persian carpet, known as an Isphahan, said Mrs. Jacobsen, has a Tree of Life design and is a lovely addition to the temple, even though it was made early in this century and not during the 1870s and 1880s when the temple was built. Mrs. Jacobsen said one of the d Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints will be rededicated during nine separate services June 14, 15 and 16, 1985. The First Presidency of the church has announced that services will be conducted at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day. Attendance will be generally limited to ticketholding members of the temple district. President Gordon B. Hinckley, second counselsor in the First Presidency, will preside at the services and offer the dedicatory prayer. It will be the 13th temple to be dedicated by President Hinckley in the past two years. The temple, 1888, was in 1981, first dedicated in closed for renovations and a contract was awarded to Zwick Construction Co., Salt Lake City. The temple now has an entirely new elec- trical system, new plumbing, and new heating and cooling systems, according to Emil B. Fetzer, church architect. Murals on the walls of several of the temple rooms have been hand-wove- professionally cleaned and restored, Mr. Fetzer said, and a number of new lighting fixtures have been installed. In addition, 65 pieces of original fumitire have been restored and new furnishings, carpeting and draperies have been installed under the direction of Florence S. Jacobsen, director of arts and sites in the church historical department. Both the original and the new furnishings, including curtains and draperies, are of the Eastlake design which was popular in the United States during the period the temple was built, she said. The temple annex has been remodeled, Mr. Fetzer said, and major additions have .been made as well, including three new marriage sealing rooms,, new. dressing rooms, a chMen's ' nursery area, and offices. Also remodeled were the chapel, cafeteria, kitchen and laundry.
