She and Silky Sue will sprint up half of the arena, back up, do a small figure eight at slow speed and a large figure eight at fast speed. The more complicated pattern includes the simple pattern plus two rolls at both sides of the arena, facing the judges for a pivot to the right of 90 degrees, to the left 180 degrees, and to the right 90 degrees. At the end of both simple and complex patterns, she does a presentation ride about the arena, waving to the spectators. She stops at the judges stand, is interviewed, remounts, rides about the arena and nervously awaits the announcement of winners. Jodi has already tried out twice and hopes the third time is the charm. Silky Sue, 10, a sorrel quarter horse with three stocking feet, is so gentle little brother, Brandon, may safely' ride him. Jodi trained Silky from a colt. Silky is perfect for queening, but for goat tying, barrels and other maneuvers, she uses speedy Festus, who gives his whole heart. Mark Lundgren, new president of the organization, presented Lucky with the coveted Bronze Hammer award which is presented annually to the state association or agency that has done the most to provide housing for those with the most need. Mr. Lundgren stated that this was the first year the award has gone to an individual. We feel Luckys project in Southeastern Utah is one of the most humanitarian acts we have seen. Her willingness to house and feed transients in her home is almost without equal. We commend her for her service to her fellowman.
