Show 12A Emery County Progress Wednesday, November 11, 1981 Reservoir will be closed out this summer, and another one will be set up in Seely Canyon near the Millers Flat Road. Another district project is to redesign and improve the Forest Service road into the Gooseberry summer homes, Say said. Improvement of the Beaver Dam Summer Home Road is in the early planning stages, he said. Environmental assessments are being written to upgrade the water systems at the Stewart and Mammouth guard stations. Foresters this winter plan to write up a district-wid- e salvage sale plan in order to attract more funding for timber sales. The district is also getting ready to write environmental assessments to redo allotment management plans, Say said. The allotments accommodate sheep, goat and cattle grazing and the plans will encompass an area from Huntington Canyon to Booth Canyon and Millers Flat Road to south Skyline Drive. The assessments cover problems and solutions, conflicts with wildlife and resource values. Other allotment management plans which may be written include the Fish Creek, Bennion, Poison Ridge and Clear Creek In an interview Friday, Say outlined a number of projects in which the Price District will be engaged in coming months. Weve got our budget tentatively finalized, district forest ranger Ira Hatch said. But were in the throes of indecision because of tentative allocations. Hatch said as - yet - unforeseen budget cuts could cause the district to discard some projects and alter others. Say said the district is currently finalizing a pair of timber sales in which lumber companies are allowed to enter an area and remove dead trees victimized by insects, disease or old age. Occasionally, before a road to a timber sale area is closed, woodcutters are permitted to go in and remove firewood. Say said that may be the case with a timber sale near Boulger Reservoir at the head of Electric Lake. Plans are to have the timber removed by the end of July, at which time, the area will be open for woodcutters. A previous timber sale north of Huntington allotments. The district also may get an environmental assessment written to cover wildlife development in order to formulate a wildlife management plan. Geologists on the district freest staff are working with a number of oil, gas and mineral developers. A seismic survey is currently being conducted on Bean Ridge in preparation for Husky Oil Co. to drill for oil and gas this summer. Energy Reserve Group is digging a 20,000-fowell on Jones Ridge near north Skyline ot Drive. Say said the group, a coalition of oil and gas companies will be drilling year round through 1983, depending on if and when they discover energy reserves. Getty Oil Co. is surveying on Gentry Mountain and Utah Power and Light on East Mountain for coal deposits. ARCO is exploring in the East Mountain-Mi- ll Fork area. Coastal States Energy Co. is drilling near Scofield and Clear Creek to see how deep the coal seams are and to get a better idea on how to mine when their project is completed. The forest service must issue drilling, seismic survey and geophysical permits for all such activity. Commission (Continued from Page 1) used by Dennis Ward as an auto wrecking and storage area. No one was in attendance to protest the change. with The commissioners, Chairman Roger Curtis absent, visited the Mill Site Reservoir with representatives from the Ferron Creek Water Company, the Utah State Division of Parks and Recreation, and Ferron City to discuss possible development of recreational facilities at the site. The Park Service, said it would purchase a pipeline leading from the culinary water treatment plant located below the dam for use as water at possible recreation sites around the lake. drinking The pipe will be brought up from the plant and buried along with the new transmission lines leading from the reservoir to the treatment plant.
