Dr. Wendell H. Wiser, of fuels professor engineering, says the remaining technological problems are solvable, although the price tag is likely to be heavy, yet necessary for national security. coal Technologically, and liquefaction gasification are viable, says Dr. Wiser, a leading researcher and advisor to the federal government on fuels policies. In todays market, coal conversion would not be economically competitive. But in my judgment, development of these fuel production processes is essential. Dr. Wiser is the U principal investigator in a $2.7 million coal conversion research project financed by the federal Energy Research Development Administration (ERDA) and the state of Utah.
