The meal was cooked in dutch ovens over an outdoor fire and then served to the group in the ward cultural hall. Salads, pies, backed potatoes and other food items were furnished by wives of the Quorum members. A very enjoyable evening of dining, visiting and dancing was enjoyed by approximately 50 people attending the function. Music was furnished by Art Enke who recently moved to Orangeville. High News reporter Nancy Brasher Leslie Hanson Mo- untain Bell celebrated her thirtieth anniversary with the local firm last Thursday. Mrs. Nicolavo was honored during the day by fellow employees. Mrs. Maxine Wilson, Cheif Operator and Ron Griffith. Manager for Mountain Bell presented her with a dozen roses and an engraved watch commemorating her 30 years of continuous service with the telephone Industry. Mrs. Nicolavo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin L. Young was born and raised in Huntington where whe graduated from North Emery High school. She started with Mountain Bell in 1942 as an operator In the Price office and was the first girl from Emery County employed by Mountain Bell, she has worked as Evening Chief Operator and chief Operator. For a period of eight years she was the only instructor in the Price office. During her thirty years of service she has worked with fourChlef Operators; Nona Stevens, Phyllis Wallace, Fern Edwards and Maxine Wilson and three managers; Phil Horsely, Phil selender and Ron Griffith. They will be playing all this week. We had an assembly Monday morning at 10;30 a.m. The treat for the week was an assembly called Birds of Desert Lake. Mr. Provan told us about the different kinds of birds, their habits and explained them with slides. He lives in Huntington, but works out at the waterfall management area. This area has 5 lakes in it and there are several species of birds breed and live there. No hunting is all- owed. Mr, Provan closed the meeting, telling of his education. ANNOUNCEMENT the company changed to dial, she also remembers when the operators used to start the firm alarm and call the fireman. She spoke of one New Years Eve when she was the Evening Chief Operator and had allowed all the girls on duty at Midnight to pull the firm alarm siren for one minute to help ring in the new year. When the string broke with only six inches of string left hanging from the ceiling there was no way to shut the siren off. She had all the girls tie their shoestrings together while she found a ladder. With the ladder she was able to tie the shoestrings to the siren string and shut the siren off. She says she still gets kidded about that night. Mrs. Nicolavo is married to Sam Nicolavo and has one daughter, Kathy who attends Durrant Elementary school. Her mother still lives in Huntington as does her brother Dean, Another brother, Paul, lives in Helper and Reo is in Provo.
