Monroe, director, Green River Community Center Green River American Legion Auxiliary and Green River Community Center are building patriotism and increasing awareness in their community. For Patriotism Month they set up MIAPOW tables at the Senior Citizens building and the Green River High School. The meaning of the table was presented by Christine Monroe, MSgt, USAF, Retired, at the American Legion Auxiliary meeting on Oct. 9 and at the Green River High School Oct. 12. The table is round to show the nation's everlasting concern for men missing in action, she explained. The white tablecloth symbolizes the purity of their motives w hen answ ering the call to duty. The single red rose, displayed in a vase, is to remind people of the missing mens loved ones and friends who keep the faith and await answers. The vase is tied with a red ribbon, a symbol of our continued determination to account for the missing. A slice of lemon on the bread plate reminds the nation of the bitter fate of those captured and missing and their families who seek answers.
