DUCHESNE 35 Seminary Class Is Active At Duchesne Flans In Progress For Spring Activity Programs CLIFF MEMMOTT, Editor .... FRUITLESS SEARCH FOR BODY OF DROWNED MAN GIVES FINE LESSON IN COMMUNITY SPIRIT Thirteen days of fruitless efforts came to an end last Saturday, March 1, as weary searchers abandoned their hunt for the body of Lorimer Rowley, Myton farmer, who was pulled into the icy waters of the Duchesne River on Feb. 17, after slipping into a hole he had chopped in the ice to water his stock. Sheriff Arzy Mitchell, who personally directed the fruitless probe of Duchesne river, called off the search for the body of Mr. Rowley after volunteer workers had sawed through ice two and three feet thick in places for over 400 yards down the river from the point where the victim had slipped through the hole and was sucked into the swift current. An average of 20 men turned out each day to look for the body. Every idea and suggestion was explored in the search for the father of four children, who had only been a resident of Myton about having come to the Basin from J&urray, where he had been a smelter worker. Men from communities all over Duchesne County stayed away from their Jobs to aid in the search, and several individuals and. industrial concerns donated heavy equipment to aid in the chore. ' Ice on the river was removed, bank to bank, sometimes in chunks as big as an automobile" in the fruitless search, Sheriff Mitchell said. Bulldozers donated by Neldon Nyberg, Roosevelt; William Coltharp, Duchesne, and the Duchesne county commission helped move the tons of ice, aided by a power wagon owned by Rudy Krissman, of Myton, and a Tanner ld ice-chok- 53.00 PER YEAR MARCH 6. 1952 COUNTY.
