It is a real pleasure for me to meet you good people of Brigham City and Box Elder County this morning, and with the others who have come here to be your guests, join with you In your peach festlvaL I have the honor to bring to you greetings from Governor Dern, who at the present time is out of the State. I also bring to you the greetings and best wishes of acting governor Welling. I am sure it was the desire of both to be here today, but due to other engagements It was impossible for them to do so. I might say, with apologies, that this is the first time' that I have had the opportunity of being in your city on one of these peach festival occasions, nevertheless, I feel that I have caught somewhat of your spirit. Nothing can be said, except but in praise of the fine spirit, the fine community spirit, that has prompted these enterprises. A city or community after all must, if It succeeds, meet its problems somewhat in the same manner as an individual, if it Is to raise itself above the ordinary. It, in its community spirit and activities, must be energetic, must be vigorous, must be resourceful, and all the time it must build for a sound, clean, standardized community life. It seems to me that you have done all of these. If you would be an extraordinary city you must do extraordinary things, and If you would do extraordinary things you must produce and maintain an extraordinary citizenship. Without making an effort to flatter, I am sure that It could be said of the citizens of Brigham City, as it has been said of the citizens of other of our communities, that one could move into this city and locate a home upon any one of its blocks and b4 assured that he would find himself In. ' the midst of good neighbors. By the way, there has gone out some faint rumor to the effect that) your production of peaches this year wil not come up to what you would like it to be and to what it has been splendid showing from the scholos.
