It was recently pointed out in this connection by a close observer that it is not a satisfactory condition to allow beef animal prices to reach the point where the price of the finished product is but of line with other commodities which are more or less competitive. There is always danger in a situation like this in two ways. One is that the .high price levels will encourage too great an expansion in production and by the same token, the price levels might discourage the consumer demand so that the pro- -- of improper kidney action. the kidneys act sluggishly, waste poisons remain in the blood, and are apt to make one languid, stiff and achy, with dull headaches, dizziness and often nagging backache. Dollarsi are them in careful atten- grow, if you plant ducer might be confronted by the situation of having an ample supply of cattle with a decreased demand, as when the taste of the consumer swings from one food stuff to another sqme times it is not so easy to bring back the per capita consumption to normal. It Is evident that more Canadian cattle will be marketed in the United States within the next few months, than in preceding years, attracted to these markets by higher price levels. There doesnt seem to be anything alarming in the trend toward a reasonably increased beef cattle production as the bulk of the expansion is taking place in the hands of qroduc-er- s wno are restocking their herds to make up the substantial decreases ' resulting from the large Post War liquidation period. However, two items worthy of consideration from the producers standpoint are that every effort should be made to gauge production reasonably to meet the requirements of the consumer and that price levels, above a certain point, do not represent a permanent healthy situation as the is likely to be bad on the per capita consumption of beef which, after all, represents the consumer demand which plays so important a part in the production of meat food animals. the right-place- . Grant in his keynote address at the opening session of the ninety-eight- h conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, which convened in the tabernacle at Salt Lake City at 10 a. m. Friday. Other speakers took up the theme chosen by the president and dwelt at length on the necessity of calling a halt tq law violations if this country expects to continue to exist and Grant declared prosper. President that no man can be a loyal citizen and a loyal Latter-da- y Saint and break the laws. All Latter-da- y Saints believe the constitution of the United States is an inspired document, the president said, and should not be guilty of violating its provisions. During the course of his remarks, President Grant read excerpts from a speech made by 'Attorney .General John G .Sargent before the Pennsylvania Bar association on June 22, 1927, in which he deplorej) the pre-- j vailing flippant and jeering attitude toward law and enforcement officers. The attofney general in that speech said it was no wonder the ignorant and vicious violated the laws when intelligent men and women, by hints and innuendo, held up the law to ridicule, indicating that it should be broken. President Grant said he was sorry the press dispatches had not carried in full the speech which the attorney general had made, as it was a speech of a statesman who has the welfare of the nation at heart. The speaker then read from the first revelation contained in Doctrine and Coverants of the Mormon church, in which the command to search the revelations of the Lord is given. If Saints would live up the Latter-da- y to the advice given in those revelations. President Grant declared, they would be shining lights to the world. He then read from the revelations regarding the constitution of the U. S. and made the remarks already cited. The next revelation read by the president urged the people to obey the word of the Lord and the laws of the land, President Grant then turned his remarks to the observance of the Word of Wisdom. There Is a law irrevocably decreed before the foundation of the world, he declared, upon which all blessings are predicted, and when one obtains a blessing it is by obedience to the law upon which it is The Latter-da- y Saints predicated. semi-annu- well-sustain- ed 538 ho SFf Declare Constitution Inspired Document.
