HOME FIRE PREVENTION this is Fire Precention Week throughout the United States, we offer a few "Donts and a few things to Remember, in the fire prevention. Dont allow rubbish to accumulate on your premises, especially in your basement or attic. Clean property As Beldom burns. Dont burn trash or rubbish near buildings or fences, nor permit children to do so. Don't put ashes in wooden boxes or against wood. Use metal cans. Dont change electric wiring without consulting a competent electrician. Dont hang electric light cords on nails or metal. Dont fail to take precautions with electric flat irons and always use with signal light. Dont fail to place metal protections under all stoves and protect wood work where stoves or furnaces are close to walls or bins. Dont pass stove pipes through the ceiling, roofs or wooden partitions. Dont neglect to have ail the flues cleaned, examined and repaired at least once a year. Dont fail to provide screens for open fireplaces. Remember most fires are preventable with proper care. Be careful. Remember all fires are small at first, then seconds count. Be ready. Remember defective chimneys and flues cause fires. Be sure. Remember defective wiring will cause a fire. Be informed. Remember rubbish, old papers and sweepings accumulate rapidly and are very dangerous are fire hazards. Be behind them daily. A crack in your chimney is a sure sign that you are going to move. To Bee a paper hanger hang paper over a flue hole indicates a sure loss.
