Mr. Roche made a short speech In accepting the position and predicted a Democratic victory. One delegate from each precinct represented was placed on the committees on credentials, platform and resolutions, and permanent organization aud order of business in the order named as follows: Brigham City John H. Nebeker of Logan, candidate for district attorney on the Democratic ticket, was present and by invitation addressed the convention. Bespoke of the fight at the judicial convention and hoped that all feelings agaiust him bad ended with the convention. If elected he promised to fulfill the duties of bis office to the best of his knowledge and ability. He advised the Democrats to be more aggressive in this campaign. Mr. J. D. Hart was called on for a speech. Judge Hart, in responding, said he had not been making any political speeches and did nut desire to do so now. This unwritten rule against a third term, the speaker said, was never Intended to apply to the judiciary and never been so considered by the American people. He approved of the law making the term four years. More than four years is a long time for an Incompetent or corrupt person to hold office and the people should have the privilege of voicing their sentiments as to the candidate's fitness at least that often. The whole community was shocked yesterday to hear of the death of two of our young ladies who ded tbe night before, both dying of typhoid fever. About 7 oclock Sunday evening, Leab, the 14 year old daughter of Peter A. Nebeker, died. Everybody thought she was getting along nicely until 5 oclock Sunday afternoon, when she took a change for tbe worse. About 10 oclock the same eveniog, Hannah the 18 year old daughter of Mr. Axel Carlson, died from the same disease. Funeral services over tbe remains of these two young ladles will be held In the Tabernacle at 2 oclock this afternoon. They were bright and exemplary young ladles.
