The football team of the University of California Is the strongest and best eleven ths school has put on the field since Its resumption of American football five years ago. The team haa a! of the requisites of a IP has weight, championship eleven. speed and football experience, coupled with the best coaching staff the university haa yet assembled. The line averages about 185 pounds and the back Held approximately 1(6. So far this season the team has scored a total of (15 points to their opponents' 7. The season has had ths most successful start of any yet experienced and the coaching staff Is now troubled with getting sufficient good competition to put them in condition for the harder games of their schedule, which are rapidly coming up. The toughest game the Bruins have had so far was their opener with the Olympia club of San Francisco, which they beat, 21 to 0. The winged O team threatened the California line continually and ft was ooatly fumbles on the part of the club's back field that gave the college team two of their three touchdowns. Ths Mare Island sailors were the next team played and a miserable exhibition of football was put on. The oallors were snowed under, 8t to 0. The second half was pitiful, the sailors offering' no resistance. Ths third game was worse yet, California beating St. Mary's college, 127 to 1920 my doubts. g. e, e e a WHETHER ITU or not, WHERE THE Englishman, WHAT TOLD THE waiter to bring.
