It is sponsored by the African Great Lakes Initiative (AGLI), which is a grassroots organization created and implemented by na- tive Africans in Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi. AGLI exists to assist communities in these three countries to rebuild homes and villages after civil war conflict, build schools for orphaned children whose parents have d died due to war or illness, and teach nonviolent conflict resolution skills to Africans in historiareas. cally war-torAlong with six other Canadian and American participants, and many native AIDS-relate- n now in full swing Boys tennis at Grand in the southern region, winning both his matches. Due to a conflict with other school activities, Mike Tatton had no partner, and was forced to forfeit his matches, but he did play a couple of singles matches, going Loveridge and Fuentes were again the victims of much more experienced players and came home winless. This event is scheduled for August 28 & 29 at the Moab Golf Club and promises to be tons of fun while raising needed money for our local shelter. Our token company golfer, Diane Child, has taken this event on herself and will actually be on one of the 50 teams that will be in the tournament. Prizes will be many, lots of surprises and all for a worthy cause. Kevin & have a goal to educate people about the possibility of peace and peace begins at home. On May 2 at the Moab Arts and Recreation Center, at 6 p.m., they will show a movie titled A Closer Walk, which was created and produced by acloserwalk.org, an organization dedicated to grassroots efforts dealing with the global issue of AIDS. It is a moving and realistic depiction of this worldwide crisis, and is inspiring in its support of personal, individual, and grassroots efforts. Most of the footage is from Uganda, as well as other African countries, India, and the former Soviet Union. They will be combining the showing (1 hr 25 min) with a request of the audience to donate money for their efforts in Uganda. The money covers their airfare, orientation costs (in Washington, DC), food while at the camp, and materials (fired adobe bricks, mortar, rebar, other building supplies) with which to build the school.
