Show Page A5 (The (Ttmrs-3nbfpnihc- Thursday, July 17, 2003 ut Come join with us to celebrate James and Era Purcell's 50th Wedding Anniversary on July 26th at 2 p m. to be held in the Moab Senior Center Light refreshments will be served No presents please James and Era Purcell celebrating 50 years James Edward Purcell and Era Elaine Funk were joined in marriage on July 25th, 1953 in Aztec, New Mexico at the Assembly of God Church They lived in a small house on West Summit where Era taught school She had 13 students from grades James worked at the uranium mine in North Egner, Colorado until he was drafted and ordered to report to Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas He was a fire control radar operator Era continued to teach 8 until her contract with San Juan School District expired She then joined James in El Paso. Charlotte Sue was born in 1956 in El Paso After the army they moved back to Utah They lived for a short time in Monticello where Debra Kay was born in 1957 Janu"' worked in the uranium null while they lived in Monticello On December 31, 1957 they moved to Moab (Mom hated it) Janies went to woik for Utah Power and Light and became a journeyman lineman They had two more girU Leslie Dawn in 1965 and Shelly Marie (now deceased in 1968 James retired from UP&L in June of 1987 James and Era live in the same location, although their home, as well as the surrounding area, have changed so much They both love Moab and have no plans to leave They love to travel in their pick up and pull their trailer Moab is a beautiful place There is truly no other place like it on Earth This would be a perfect time and excuse to come and experience the wonders of Canyonlands and celebrate with us There are lots of mo tels and camp grounds in the area If you would like more information, James and Era's .
