' Our job, while deployed, is to patrol the Iraqi northern no-fl- y zone as well as monitoring Iraqi compliance with United Nations Security Council directives, said Lt. Col. Eric Best, 42 st FS commander. Deploying and being away from ones family can be stressful enough, but these deployed airmen will also have the added stress of being away from their families during the holiday season. We want to make sure we do everything in our power to keep up moralp in the squadron, said Colonel Best. Being gone for the holidays is very difficult, and for many, this is not the first time they have been gone during this time of year. Unfortunately, however, this mission is not one that stops for the holidays. The squadron knows the importance of what we will be doing over there, and they are trained and prepared to deploy and return home having successfully accomplished the mission, added the colonel. To help keep morale high the 42 1st FS is working with the Family Support Center to make sure family and friends left behind know how to reach their loved ones overseas and what programs are available to them through the Hearts Apart Program.
