Competing against larger bases within the command was daunting enough, but going up against the best in the Air Force and winning was quite an accomplishment for the Hill fitness center staff and the Services Division. "It's kind of a validation for us," said Fitness Center director, Margie Stutz. "We've made a lot of changes, and it hasn't been easy. We've fought a lot of battles. We've won some. We've lost some, but it's validating to know that we were going in the right direction. I think our perseverance in the programming areas and the policy areas has really paid off for us. All that hard work has really been worth it." "It's difficult to win this award," agreed SSgt. Nelson Kendall. "It's not something easy. You're competing against a lot of other bases, and some bases might have better equipment. Some bases might have more floor space. Some bases might have more basketball courts. For us to win that award, it's a great accomplishment. It just says something about the people who work here."
