Activities of a Busy Moab City Police Department The Moab Police Department han- dled 64 incidents and 6 traffic accidents over the past week. The animal control officer dealt with 21 animal complaints. An officer responded to a local motel on a complaint of a car alarm that kept going off. It appears as though the alarm was keeping everybody but the owner of the vehicle awake. The high school reported that graffiti had been painted on the walls of the building. I'm sure it's the same fools from last week. The kids taunting a downtown 3: businessman, calling him rubber nose struck again. I have this feeling that if the victim of the insults would ignore the offenders and not call the police department the kids would get bored with the activity and find something else to do. Officers also handled five thefts, two civil details, a warrant arrest, and a traffic complaint. An officer took a report of a retail theft from a local store. The RP (Reporting Party) advised that two journals, unknown color and design, were taken from the establishment at an unknown time by an unknown suspect. A disorderly conduct, an escort, and a medical assist were also re3: ported. An officer spoiled an early morning party in Mountain View Trailer Park after noise com 3: plaints were received. A stereo volume control seminar was delivered to an individual on Wingate following complaints from neighbors in the area. An officer responded to a local convenience store on a report of an intoxicated individual. The RP advised that the subject wasn't causing any trouble. The RP just wanted the subject to see a police officer. It was obvious that the intoxicated subject had no desire to see a police officer, as he beat feet when he heard the RP calling the police. A criminal mischief, a child abuse, a suspicious incident, and a noise problem were also dealt with. "Help me, I've fallen and I can't get up!" The subject advised that he had rolled his car in Durango two days earlier, and now he was starting to hurt. The officer gave the guy a ride to the hospital after determining that he wasn't simply intoxicated. An officer was dispatched to a local tavern on a reported family fight. The officer met with the RP in the parking lot. The RP advised that his wife had driven off and left him. The RP also complained that his significant other had taken his coat and cigarettes, and that he was cold. The RP wanted the officer to located his wife and tell her "that she wasnt very nice." The officer informed the RP that there wasn't much that could be done. Sometime later the RP called again and advised that he had found the car, but his coat was locked inside. The officer met with the RP. The RP then told the officer that his wife and her friends were "going to ship" him. The officer went with the subject to the friends trailer and was able to recover the coat in question. The RP was then very happy. He advised the officer that he was going the find a place to sleep. An officer responded to the parking lot of a local restaurant on a report of a suspicious person sitting in a car for a long time. The RP advised that the guy was just sitting in his car. He had been asked to leave, and refused. The officer made contact with the individual, who advised the officer that he felt "real good!" The subject informed the officer that he was on regular injections of medprob- lems, and that he intended to eventually go in the restaurant for a "nice, cool glass of water." The subject informed the officer hed get his "nice, cool glass of water elsewhere," seeing as how he had spooked everybody at the restaurant. An officer responded to the hospital on a reported mental subject. The RP advised that the individual had been standing in the lobby of the hospital for at least three hours looking at the TV without moving once. The officer after considerable effect was able to get the attention of the individual. He advised the officer that he was watching the game.
