We have had serious illness, injuries and several deaths in our group. Hope 1991 will be a better year. The birthday party held Saturday the 17th was well attended. Those having birthdays were Leo Burr, Outdoor art experience shared here Sculptor Lynne Hull, a specialist environment, shares her experience with students at Grand County Intermediate School Nov. 0 through the Arts in Education program, announced Carol Nixon, director, Utah Arts Council. She enriches her residency with an extensive collection of slides featuring outdoor art covering 5,000 years and nine countries. Her experiences in sculpture" and craft techniques give her new ideas concerning local environments in ways that can be shared in art in the 19-3- With students and adults, making their environment more meaningful and broadening their ideas about What art is and how and when it is ijnade. Hull was selected from a bank of artists compiled by the Utah Arts Council to provide quality arts experiences in public schools and for community groups. Gene Hutchinson, Michael Owens and Shawn Hutchinson. Harvest Carnival held at Red Rock School Red Rock Elementary School held its Harvpit Carnival on Saturday, Nov. 10. Over $1000 was raised for playground improvements. The Harvest Carnival was under the direction of the PTA. President Sharon Williams was very happy with the support received from the community. Teachers and parents both deviated their time generously County High School held a Ropes II program along the Potash Road. This was the follow up program to Rope I held on Sept. 29th. For a student to participate in this program, they had to have attended the Ropes I program, as this was a more advanced activity. There were nine climbs set up, ranging from easy to hard. This climbing course was supervised by Steve Hren, Paul and Linda Seibert, Andrea Stoughton and Stan Steck. The weather was perfect for a day of fun in the sun and they all had a Many parents donated baked goods which made for a delicious bake sale. Several booths were set up for games and activities and lunch was also available. The carnival had been postponed due to rain on Oct. 19, but support remained very strong. Margaret Hopkin, principal, felt it was a very successful carnival. "The support between the community and the school is one of the strengths which enhance the education our students receive," she said. to the qamival. Both the Coca Cola and Pepsi corporations also made donations. The workshop, centering on vocal production, was conducted by Vicki Maybury, director of Skyline Chorus, Region 8 competition winders for 1989. 'Fridays session began at 6 p.m. iwith a dinner at the church followed by work on individual vocal production. Vicki Maybury is a lively, vivacious, talented director.
