You don't get selected to represent that body without demonstrating some good common sense, and an ability to get the job done. ; Commissioner Knutson is always available to help with the program, and can be relied on to provide what ever is needed to help get the senior needs met, whether it be on a local, district, or state level. He is well respected throughout the state, and I have seen him get the attention of key legislators, even during the most hectic of times at the legislature. That kind of clout is a valuable took and I'd like to thank him for using it to help the seniors of Grand County. I again repeat that we need to recognize people for their efforts to serve us by emphasizing the positive. Our Grand Commissioners have done a fine job for the senior citizens, and I appreciate the outstanding job David Knutson has done in that position. Dear Sam, The best thing that ever happened to Moab is the defeat of the courtu house. How might wonder. Because, finally, maybe, the people of Moab can see how negative they have become-ho- w selfish how petty. The cost to voters that would have been minimal will now be exorbitant. The State and City will pull out, finally, leaving a shell with only a few county employees left struggling with its upkeep and poor working surroundings as the building eventually crumbles about their heads. I weep for the unthinking people who have not a clue that if some of the older men in this community had not mined and planned and developed, the very houses they live in today not only would not exist but might be on national park land or still an undeveloped orchard. There is a scout house for both boys and girls because of him. He donated consistently to the local charities, scouts, museum, etc., and finally, before his death, he left the legacy of a new museum for young and old alike to enjoy. Then some of the very people who have charge of that which he left behind, voted against that which would be best for future generations. Jensen of the state school board race is a CPA from Gunnison. He received a surprising share of the votes cast in this part of the state for that office'in spite of his very unusual views on education. These include abolishing the re- quirement for college education preparation for teachers, allowing students to choose their own teachers, and eliminating school districts and school boards and administering education at the local level with local parents elected to supervise the education of the children in each individual school. I hope voters will make sure Mr. Jensen fairly represents their own views before voting for him and that they will not mistake him again for San Juan's Superintendent Jensen.
