Show At The Tlmeslndapendgnt, Thursday, March 5, 1987 Strategic minerals acquired by) Mountain States Resources Mountain States Resources Corporation announced last week that it has diversified its corporate objectives from the cyclic energy industry by making a strong move into the strategic mineral area. Coupled with the announcement that a new President has been elected to the management team, the Company optimistically restructures its direction for the future. In making the announcement, Ray H. Albrechtsen, Chairman of the Board, reported that Mountain States Resources Corp. had executed a Purchase Agreement for the acquisition of certain titanium (rutile) and zirconium reserves in exchange for 1.5 million shares of Mountain States Resources Corporations common stock. The acquisition consists of 3,720 acres of leases and mining claims, on which preliminary geologic studies including a 1961 report prepared by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Mines, indicate estimated mineable ore reserves of 398,000 tons of titanium and 189,000 tons of zirconium, based on data. Other rare earths and exotic minerals are also evident on these properties. ' Mountain States Resources Corp. has engaged the engineering firm of Ford, Bacon and Davis, Inc., to conduct feasibility and engineering studies which will determine ore quality and mining, milling and transportation requirements for these products. Phase one of these studies is scheduled for completion within 30 days. The Comapny is also actively investigating markets and financing methods for the development of this project, Mr. Albrechtsen reported. j' Titanium metal is an important strategic and critical material and is widely used for military and civilian aircraft, as well as other aerospace uses. Presently, the U.S. must import approximately 80 percent of its supply from foreign sources such as Australia, India and then-availab- le ce Africa. The current market price of rutile, per premium titanium, is $510-152- 0 ton and $150 to $200ton for zirconium. This is a substantial increase of 100 percent in just the past five years, Mr. Albrechtsen stated. Mr. Albrechtsen also reported that he has resigned from the Presidency of Mountain States Resources Corp., a position he has held in the company for the past 10 years. In doing so, he can now focus his efforts specifically on new reas of growth and development for the Company. Mr. Albrechtsen stated that the Company was pleased to announce the election of Mr. William J. Enger as the new President and a Director. Mr. Enger holds a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from California State University. For eight years, MR. Enger was President and Chief Executive Officer of Beverly Hills Oil Company (BHOC) and was responsible for the conception, master plan and construction of BHOCs internationally urban drill famous, site and oil transportation pipeline located in Beverly Hills, California. The Beverly Hills Oil Project is very similar in nature to Mountain States Resources proposed L.A. Highland Oil Project, which is also located in the urban area of Los Angeles, California. This project is in the early exploration stages. Mr. Enger represented BHOCs interests in lengthy environmental processes, as well as securing in excess of $40 million financing for site development and drilling. Mr. Engers experience in BHOC and his operations and financial background will be invaluable to Mountain States Resources Corp., Mr. Albrechtsen noted. Mr. Enger is actively involved in preliminary discussions with various lending institutuions and financial organizations to secure the neces-sasr- y capital requirements for Mountain States Resources state-of-the-a- Corpo-ration- 's projects. Dormant spray important for fruit trees The most important spray for fruit trees is the dormant spray. A whole array of insects can be practically controlled by this one application. Insects such as aphids, scale insects, mites and leafhoppers. It is called dormant because it must be applied before blossoms or leaves appear to prevent burning. Dormant spray consists of an oil (Volck, Superior, or Supreme) and an insecticide such as diazinon. The oil coats the eggs and suffocates them and helps the diazinon stick to the bark. Oil may be purchased at any of the local stores that carry gardening products. The best way to apply is with a hand pump sprayer which can reach about 10 feet. If you dont have one, see if your neighbor will loan you one or they can be purchased locally. However, until she saw the article in a Chicago paper on the Moab dump, she had no idea how to determine the nearest town. She was very excited to have the Moab Chamber number, listed in the news release, and looks forward to retiring in Moab within the year. Many tourists have exclaimed that they were trying to make up their mind where to go on their next vacation, when they saw the news reports on the Moab Dump. They made their choice at once, Moab would be their destination. An example is a gentleman who was in Moab last week from Amsterdam Holland. He read the article in the U.S. News (in Dutch). He had planned to visit the U.S. and decided he had to include a visit to the town that had the guts and gumption to sponsor such a contest. He was thoroughly enjoying his Homecoming ... Mr. John Hagner, Founder and President of the Board for the Hall of Fame, is anxious to make the move. During his trip to Moab to explore the possibilities, he became convinced that the area would be ideal as a permanent home for the collection. With tourism, recreation, and film industries all selected for future development, the Stuntmens Hall of Fame seemed to be a perfect attraction. The Stuntmens Hall of Fame was first opened in 1973 in Palmdale, California. Utilizing contributed buildings, it was forced to move three times over the next 12 in years. Due to city 1986, Hagner placed the memor-- : abilia in storage with a goal to find a location where the Hall of Fame could be established permanently. While there are 600 crates of priceless memorabilia, including pieces from stuntmen and movies filmed in Moab, there are little funds to make the move and get it established in Moab. A grant that includes funds for this purpose has been reviewed by the State Community Impact Board (CIB) and will be considered again in April. The grant, Phase I of the Moab Arts and Culture Development, includes funds for the City to purchase a facility that will house this collection and possibly another collection, as well as provide additional seminar and convention meeting space. The City will own the facility and the Hall of Fame will cover the operational costs. The grant will furnish enough funding to gdt the museum set up and running. The objective of the Arts and Cultural Development is to provide attractions that will draw and hold visitors for longer periods of time. The Stuntmens Hall of Fame is expected to do just that. The Hall of Fame also has 222 footprints. Their annual footprinting ceremony, drawing such stars as Charlton Heston and Robert Wagner, is staged to raise funds for the .operation. Briefing Center A 15 minute video on the Hollywood Stuntmens Hall of Fame can be viewed at the Briefing Center. cost. It is anticipated that by July 1, 1988, the operation can be fully funded by the agencies and organizations it serves. Besides the services provided to the civic groups and the city and county, the third year program will furnish the technical assistance needed to implement the recovery plan that was developed during the first 2 years of operation.
