In a letter to Gov. Norman Bangerter, the Commission took issue with the Governors proposal, now before the Utah Legislature, which contains a package of tax increases aimed million to add to this years budget, now being drafted by the Legislature. The people of Grand County are still suffering severe hardship from the now uranium industry, the letter began. It continued: We are all having a hard time paying property taxes and non-existe- New volume on income taxes, therefore we are very much opposed to a tax increase being imposed on the citizens of this state. We are working to encourage retired people to our area and feel additional tax burdens are a detriment to this project. Local senior citizens are telling us that the Utah tax base is already too high and some are Moab history planned by D.U.P. .
