The analysis was prepared at the request of a group of Blanding merchants, who have questioned action by the Blanding City Council in approving inducement revenue bonding for the proposed store. Vote on jail facility ... Manti A bond election scheduled for March 8 may decide whether Sanpete County has any jail facilities at all, according to Sheriff Kennard Anderson. If county voters refuse to approve construction of a $2.5 million addition to the courthouse, Anderson said, he is almost certain the jail in the present facility will be shut down. The five-befacility used at present was constructed in 1937. However, the metal cages in its interior are museum pieces, constructed prior to Utah's statehood in 1896. d Anasazi Heritage Center . . . the Bureau of Reclamation Colo. It was announced Cortez, by that within three years a major cultural facility will have been added to Montezuma County, with construction of the new Anasazi Heritage Center. The structure is to be located at the southeast side Ruins of the park already dedicated to the Dominguez-Escalant-e southwest of Dolores. The center will be operated by BLM personnel, who will also continue archaeological work in the area. It is ex- -' pected that construction should be completed in 1985 or 1986. Action against Bountiful The Council Due to the iS v -- j.63 ruggedness of the terrain, Sheriff Jim Nyland called in a helicopter from Luebell Helicopters of Grand Junction to help remove the bodies of the victims and the 796 pounds of marijuana which were recovered from the crash site. A helicopter was also used to remove the wreckage of the Piper Aztec this week. Here, the helicopter hovers close to a ledge, while a net sling is hooked onto a cable. The chopper was also used to ferry twin-engin- e to ikj - investigators to the site. Deputy Steve Brownell empties one of the many bags of marijuana removed from the site of the crash. The sheriff's office burned the marijuana Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the county yard. . . . Murray Murray City recently authorized a resolution to explore legal means by which Murray could recover losses resulting from Bountiful City's refusal to sign contracts that would permit cutting the Intermountain Power Project by half. It is estimated thai the losses could total up to $22 million. Murray is the largest municipal participant in the massive project. Bountiful is one of 36 participants in the project that have failed to sign the documents allowing the reduced project to get underway. Murray Mayor LaRell D. Muir said Bountiful's municipal power company is seeking concessions from Utah Power and Light on unrelated matters, resulting in the city 's refusal to sign. . Offers made on property Orem The land ... Myers Group, a syndication company based in Seattle, recently made more than $5 million in offers on properties in Utah County, according to an announcement by Ivan M. Walker, president of the Utah Valley Industrial Development Association. All of the properties are near extending from the Utah Technical College in Orem to American Fork. During a three to five year holding period, the properties will either be resold for commercial and industrial use, or developed by the Myers Group. It is esimated that up to 1,000 new jobs could be created by the development. 1-1-5, Stoner closed ... Dolores, Colo. It was reported that the Stoner Ski Area will likely remain closed for the remainder of the season, after a ruling by the Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board in Denver. The board refused to lift its suspension of the license to operate the No. 1 lift, which serves the top of the mountain. Dolores will be getting a new town park as a result of the Dolores River Project and the public is being asked for suggestions on how the park should be developed. Written comments are needed by March 1. The new park will be located where the town 's sewer plant now stands east of Hwy. 145 at the extreme west edge of Dolores.
