Rain was changing to snow in the Midwest and winds gusted up from the Southwest. Thunderstorms in north-centrand w estern Texas w ere producing heavy rains, but they were less intense than on Thursday when there were many reports of hail. At Eagle Pass, Texas, hail rained down Thursday and collapsed the roof of a house. al Showers dampened parts of Pennsylvania. New Jersey and Massachusetts early today. Rain wis changing to snow in northwestern Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. It was snowing in Pittsburgh. Denver and Indianapolis before daybreak. Clouds hung over much of the East Coast and Midwest. Gusting winds and isolated thunderstorms will be possible today from New Mexico to Southern California. Snow may fall in the northern New Mexico and in southern Wyoming and Colorado. Louisiana, and showers could stretch from New Jersey to Maine. Seere thunderstorms forecast for Texas were expected to accompany w ind gusts and more hail.
