It was windy in Denver, Des Moines, Iowa. Minneapolis and Omaha, Neb. Mist saturated Tampa, Fla., in the southeast; New Orleans, Birmingham, Ala., Fort Worth, Texas, and Oklahoma City in the central part of the nation; and in Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco in the West. Winds gusted up to 52 mph overnight in Cheyenne, Wyo., 59 mph in Yankton, S.D., and 67 mph in Grand Forks, N.D. Rain and higher elevation snow were possible today from western Washington and Oregon to North-eCalifornia, Utah and parts of Wyoming. It was expected to be windy today from the Plains to the Great Lakes region and the central Appalachians as a cold front moves east and south. Some wind gusts exceeding 50 mph were possible from the Dakotas and Nebraska to Michigan and Minnesota. A chance of snow or rain was forecast from Minnesota and Iowa to the eastern Great Lakes, the central Appalachians, and the upper and middle Ohio River Valley. Rain showers and thunderstorms were possible today from the central Gulf Coastal region to the eastern Tennessee River Valley and the southern Appalachians. A few inches of snow were possible from upper Michigan and the adjacenf sections of Wisconsin to northern and western lower Michigan. Temperatures were forecast in the teens and 20s in the upper Midwest and upper Great Lakes; 20s, 30s and 40s in New England; 30s, 40s, and 50s in the Midwest; 40s, 50s, and 60s in the 60s, 70s and 80s in the Southwest and Texas; and 70s and 80s in the Southeast.
