Mostly cloudy, flumes possible u m By The Associated Press Rain fell in the South this morning, while snow fell in Michigan, Ohio and parts of the Midwest. Windy, cool weather prevailed over the central states while the West was cloudy and cold. An upper-levlow pressure system was expected to bring snow down south today, covering parts of New Mexico, northern and western Texas and southern Arkansas. Moderate rain was expected across central and southern areas of Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Pockets of freezing rain will move into northern Mississippi and Alabama tonight, as well as southern Tennessee. High pressure over the Mississippi Valley will keep dry. calm weather in most of the region. A warm front will push across the Dakotas later this afternoon, bringing a few scattered snow showers. Snow will fall in the Northeast today, but lake effect snow should end in Michigan and drop off in Ohio and New York later in the day.
