Reforms of unfair labor practices is among the chamber's top legislative priorities for 1998. The reform measure under subcommittee consideration, the "Fairness for Small Business and Employees Act of 1993" (H.R. 3246), introduced by Rep. Some computers are not properly equipped to handle dates that end in "00." This can cause problems if your computer system thinks that the 3'ear 2001 is 1901, messing up everything from birth dates to outgoing orders, payroll systems to common calculating functions. To help you answer this question, The ProvoOrem Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with local businesses and computer experts to offer a Y2K User's Group. The group meets twice a month over a period for a total of eight sessions. It's free for chamber members. The next round of courses will begin in April. Approximately 45 local companies, the majority of which are small- - to medium-size- d with anywhere from one to 500 computers, are participating in the current round of courses. Y2K project managers and chief information officers from an array of local companies are providing the instruction, including representatives from NuSkin 16-we- ber members, the courses will continue through the year 2000, with a different approach being taken in 2001. The lessons include an inventory of software and hardware, prioritization of applications and systems, preliminary testing, communications audit trail, risk and impact analysis, resource allocation, implementation and 1 ft, testing.
