The 91st Division, nicknamed the Wild West Division, consisted of men from Utah and other western states. The war claimed the lives of 665 Utah men during the war, of which died about in combat. Illness killed most of the others, and accidents caused a few deaths. Another 864 were wounded. As many as 100 medical doctors from Utah served overseas, as did about 100 Utah men who drove motor ambulances for the Red Cross.
