Hopper, along with his wife, Juanita, are hosts of the Orem Senior Friendship Center's Wendover The monthly trip gives more than 40 seniors the chance to do some gambling and socializing. It's a time to act like kids again. Ask any of them as they chatter and laugh between the bus' seats, and they'll say it without hesitation, "We've earned a little fun." Turn-aroun- ITS AN extended social hour. Friends catch up on old times, couples snuggle and hold hands and talk about the day ahead, and Maynard Hopper shuffies up and down the aisle. He waits until the new blue and yellow Lake Shore Motor Coach lines bus gets out of Orem Wednesday morning, then he's up. He doesn't top until the swaying Goliath pulls up to the casino's front door. There's food and drink to serve and Bingo to be played. Hopper doesn't do it all on his own. Many of the seniors supply cookies and candies, and Juanita Hopper is famous for the 50 or so small sandwiches she makes the night before. Ray Carter helps serve. He works his way down the aisle, feet spread wide for stability as the bus sways back and forth with each bump. THE HOPPERS are hosts of a trip each week. The couple, imported from Kentucky, have been hosting the trips since and her fellow seniors don't appreciate what the Hoppers r do to make the trip three-hou- to Wendover fly by, she said. But it's the chance to get out of her condo that she truly loves. "I live a solitary life," she said. "I get to see all these people, eat good food and have a great time." Where else would Cox get to see Utah's beautiful scenery, antelope or even Bob and Judy's Dead Dog Saloon. MANY OF THE seniors joke that they're out spending their children's inheritance.
