My older brother Dave and a couple of his coaching friends from Bountiful showed me how to catch trout in the Weber River as it fed into the small reservoir. Back then we fished with flies and bubbles, and as 1 recall the" fishing was excellent. I participated in a small bass club tournament on Rockport last Saturday, and much to my surprise, the reservoir was healthy and produced several species of quality fish Of course, I targeted smallmouth bass, but others, both on the shore and from boats, caught perch, bass and trout a lot of trout. I spoke with several anglers and observed several others, and discovered that Rockport has been and still is a very' viable fishery. What amazed me most w'ere the numbers of shore anglers, most of whom caught fish. Some used ' a float with a worm and caught perch almost at will. Others used the standard method of Power-bai- t angling and caught good numbers of 15- - to The NFL "They're going to have to put on a case, and we're going to have to defend against them vigorously." Rafael Mendoza, who returned to the team two weeks after the stabbing, has been doing irehab and therapy this summer to prepare for the season. "Football is going to be good for him," his mother said. "I ask him how it's going, and sometimes he'll say, 'I'm struggling still."' One day, Florence Mendoza might be able to forgive Cozad, but not yet. "There's always got to be forgiveness. How long it takes? I don't know," she said. "I wouldn't want my son to be in his place. I'm glad my son didn't make the wrong choice." NBA Nets give coach multiyear contract extension EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. Frank, the NBA's Michael Vick ordered to stay out of training camp late-seas- Michael Vick was ordered by commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to stay away from the Atlanta Falcons' training camp until NEW YORK the league reviews the dogfighting charges against him. "While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy," Goodell said in a letter to the quarterback. The NFL said Vick would still get his preseason pay and Goodell told the Falcons to withhold any disciplinary action of their own until the league's review was completed. Goodell told Vick the league would complete its review as quickly as possible and that he expected full cooperation. The review is expected to involve conversations with federal law enforcement officials so the NFL can determine the strength of the case against Vick. The Falcons open camp on Thursday, the same day Vick is scheduled to be arraigned in Richmond, Va., on charges of sponsoring a dogfighting operation. The team declined comment other than to say a news conference was scheduled Tuesday at owner Arthur Blank's office in Atlanta.
