Craft museum head named - BYU ballroom dancers return from U.S. Ballroom Dance Championships as winners of an invitational challenge. ballroom dancers defeat top team SVU The Brigham Young University Ballroom Dance company re- turned this week from Miami, Fla., where its members won an invitational challenge match between the United States and the Federal Republic of Germany as part of the United States Ballroom Dance Championships. BYU's team represented the U.S. against the Red and White Dusseldorf Team directed by Wolfgang Opitz. Adjudicators for the challenge were from Japan, Germany, England, Austria, Canada and the United States. While in Florida, BYU ballroom dance director Lee Wakefield judged professional events at the same championships. "This is the first time BYU has defeated a team of such high caliber," says Claudia Hill, a room Dance Championships.
