Jensen and family entertained at dinner Wednesday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Jack Price of Pasadena, Calif. Mr. Jensen and Mr. Price were former for-mer missionary companions. Mrs. Louise Cole has been ill the past week and now recovering nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Lon Pearson recently re-cently returned from Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., where Mr. Pearson has been stationed with the national guard, and now have established residence in Salt Lake City. They were honored recently with a family fam-ily party at the home of his mother, moth-er, Mrs. Milo Pearson. Mrs. Ralph E. Jensen attended a faculty party recently given for Miss Karen Webb prior to her leaving leav-ing lor Japan. The get-together was held at Miss Webb's home in Midvale. Miss Webb taught fifth grade at West Jordan Elementary School last year. Christine Shulsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Shulsen, is recovering re-covering from a tonsillectomy and getting along nicely. Mrs. P. T. West Jordan 1st Ward held its annual ward outing ot West Jordan Town Park Monday evening. They had a welfare supper and white elephant auction, purpose of which was to raise funds for their welfare assessment. West Jordan Stake Aaronic Priesthood will hold their Priesthood Priest-hood Chicken and Beans Dinner Friday (today), August 24. Returning recently from a two weeks' stay at the home of his uncle and aunt in Pleasant Grove was Van Nielson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Nielson. Recent priesthood ordinations in West Jordan I at Ward are: Val D. Jenkins to the office of a deacon, ames Dale and Vernon Robert Ries to office of teacher and Gerald Cook, Richard Schmidt, Bryce Asay and Charles Brown to the office of priest. West Jordan let Ward Primary held their around the block parade August 14. The children decorated their bicycles, wagons, etc., and wore gay costumes. Mr. and Mrs. Sharp Young and family recently enjoyed a trip thru Yellowstone National Park. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Webb and children, Alice, Toccoy and Dar-lena, Dar-lena, Mrs. Ann Mabey and son, Dwayne, and Wilford Webb returned re-turned home Tuesday evening after a five-day trip to Idaho and on to Yellowstone National Park, starting in Montana and ending in Jackson Hole, Wyo. While in Idaho they visited an aun fto Mrs. Webb, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Perry at Idaho Falls. Family movies were taken of the trip for their "memories chest" Which includes all important events which have taken place and trips they have taken in the past few years. Surprised and happy winner of the Shetland pony, one of the top prizes given away at the Salt Lake Bees Kids Pony night, held Tuesday Tues-day night at Derks Field was Wayne Heilmann, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Heilmann of West Jordan. The Seven-Eleven Riding Club participated in the regional show at Heber last Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17 and 18. They placed first in the pole bending event and finished fin-ished third in the relay and chariot race contests. They also placed first in the parade horses. Mrs. Billie Haun and Mrs. Irma Shulsen of West Jordan won first place in the Hill Field pairs sectional sec-tional bridge tournament at New-house New-house Hotel last week end. Leonard Irving celebrated his 87th birthday on August 17. He was honored with a dinner party, given by his daughters, VaLois Creighton, Lodi, Calif.; Evelyn Irving, Irv-ing, West Jordan, and Sara Irving, Salt Lake City, at the home of Mrt. Union Wednesday Wed-nesday evening, Aug. 22. They were accompanied by Mrs. Evelyn Beckstead and Mrs. Ella Daniels. Sharon Sohmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Schmidt, was one of five grand champion winners win-ners of the 4-H Style Dress Revue at the Sak Lake County Fair at Murray Monday evening. Sharon modeled a gold colored woolen coat dress she had made and will also model it at the Utah State Fsjr in September. WEST JORDAN Leana Miller of Fremont, Calif., hat been a two-day guest of Carrie Sue Beer the past week. They have enjoyed horseback riding, the theater the-ater and places of interest in the area. Miss Miller is granddaughter granddaugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Miller of Midvale. Members of the West Jordan Jr. High Band, under direction of Grant Baker, marched in the parade at Murray Monday evening, at the opening of the County Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Butterfield and Mr. and Mrs. O. J. Thacker enjoyed a steak fry up the canyon Thursday evening. The occasion honored Mr. Thacker's birthday. Miss Carol Loftus of Salt Lake City was guest speaker at the West Jordan 4th Ward sacrament meeting meet-ing last Sunday evening. The meeting meet-ing was very inspiring and uplifting. uplift-ing. Miss Loftus has been a paralytic para-lytic polio victim for the past eleven elev-en years. She has only the use of three fingers of her left hand, yet she has a magazine business and is active as speeuh director in her ward, aN done from a wheel chair. A special musical number was sung by an Aaronic Priesthood boys chorus directed by Mrs. Nell Williams. Wil-liams.
