(UPI) Pilot Kirk Sawatzki, 34, of Sandy, Utah, and an unidentified passenger died in a helicopter crash at the Squaw Valley USA resort this week, according to Placer County authorities. The helicopter was hovering near a ski lift it was helping to replace at the resort when it suddenly plunged to the ground and burst into flames, said Capt. Jim Evans of the Squaw Valley Fire Department. The identity of Sawatzki's companion was withheld until relatives could be notified, a Placer County sheriff's spokeswoman said.
