Show The West Jordan Third Ward M.I.A. opening social, to be held next Tuesday night, Sept. 5th, will be a corn roast and hayride. Wagons Wag-ons will leave from Bishop Bate-iWs Bate-iWs home at 7:00 p.m. They will travel south along 13th West to Bingham highway then proceed west to West Jordan Elementary School, then go north along Redwood Red-wood Road to 70th South then east to Bishop Bateman's pasture where refreshment of sloppy joes, roasted corn and watermelons will be served. serv-ed. Sargent, first; Mrs. Boyd Anderson, second; Mrs. Verio Kendrick, consolation, and Mrs. A. D. Bentley, draw. Also the birthdays of Mrt. Kendrick, Mrt. Anderson and Mrs. Phil Sanderson were celebrated and each were presented pre-sented with a lovely gift. Delicious late refreshments were terved by the hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Wheatley left Wednesday for Omaha, Nebr., to visit a week with Mrs. Wheatley't aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrt. Joe Vranes. Mrs. Mary Crookston from Ren-ton, Ren-ton, Wash., spent two days this week visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Dean Ham and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Stanley and family. Mrs. Crookston is Mrs. Ham's aunt. Arriving last Saturday to visit a week with Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Gran-quist Gran-quist were Mr. Granquist't mother, Mrs. Sofia Granquist, and sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Latimer and children, Kathy and John, from Glendora, Calif. The Latimers are also visiting with relatives in Salt Lake City. The 7-11 Riding Club of West Jordan, district first place winners in the relay, the chariot and the ribben pole races, took part in the regional meet held at Heber last week end, it was reported. The West Jordan unit placed second in the relays, fourth in the chariot race and finished third in the ribbon pole in regional competition. The riding club will participate at the Utah State Riding Club meet in the relay, chariot and ribbon pole races during dur-ing the Utah State Fair, it was reported. re-ported. About 30 members belong to the riding unit. Odell Edmonds of West Jordan is president of the club. Leaving last week end to return to their home in Antioch, Calif., were Mr. and Mrs. Carl L. Christen-sen Christen-sen and four children. They have spent the past week visiting with their mothers, Mrs. Myrtle Christ-ensen Christ-ensen of West Jordan and Mrs. Zella Whitehead of Sandy, and other relatives re-latives and friends in the area. La Mar, returned re-turned Sunday night from a week end visit to San Pete where they visited with Mrs. St. John's parents. Mr. and Mrs. James Dick and family, Annette and Johnny, and friends, James C. Giles and Laurain Allred, spent the week end at the Dick's mountain cabin on the Upper Weber River. During their stay at the cabin they rode horses, played 1 orseshoes and went hiking. Mr. and Mrs. Dick bought a horse from a nearby sheepherder. The horse's name is Flicker. Nancy Nelson visited last week at Cedar Fort. She spent three days visiting with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker. Nancy attended a record hop with the local lo-cal teenagers and a pizza party at the home of one of her friends while in Cedar Fort. Visitors last Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Williamson and family were Mr. and Mrs. Al Tassainer of Vernal. Army National Guard Pvt. Richard Rich-ard P. Spratling, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Royal Spratling, recently completed com-pleted the airbourne course at The Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga. Spratling received his paratrooper wings after completing three weeks |
