Show nisi By LYN CONNELLY WHAT'S in a name? Much to an executive producer in TV particularly if it happens to be the name of a prospective star in a series . . . Thus it happened hap-pened that an actor thoroughly grounded in his craft and bearing bear-ing the unactorish name of Fred Eisely, won the stellar role of private investigator Tracy Steele in ABC-TV's new "Hawaiian Eye" series and promptly had his name changed to Anthony Eisley by Warner Bros. TV executive producer William Orr. "It was something of a compromise," com-promise," says Eisley now. "I agreed that 'Fred' doesn't have much rhythm to it, and Mr. Orr came up with the 'Anthony' . . . He agreed that my last name had become something of a fixture in the theatre" . . . So Anthony Eisley signed a contract and, forthwith joined other members of the troupe in a flight to Hawaii for location shooting A3 Fred Eisely he has appeared in some 200 live and filmed TV shows as well as a number of Broadway and Chicago stage pro-, ductions . . . His screen credit in his only previous appearance under the Warner Bros, banner a3 Carter Henry in "The Young Philadelphians" reads Fred Eisely also. Native Phlladelphlan Eisley, an actor most of his working life, does not come from a theatrical family . . . His father, Frederick Sr., was an executive of the Scott Paper Co. and an accomplished violinist . . After three years In Pennsylvania, Fred received his B.A. degree from the University Uni-versity of Miami In 1917 following which he made his profeusional debut . . . Two seasons of summer sum-mer stock followed and then he received his first real break when he was cast In the touring company of "Mr. Roberts." Mr. and Mrs. Max DuBois of Salt Lake City, former Lark residents, are leaving Friday (today) on a trip to Hawaii. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lovat, Miss Connie Mockizuki, Mrs. Rita Ugarte and Mrs. Mae Stillman visited with Mrs. Hugo Dellagnola of Midvale Monday evening, the occasion being be-ing her birthday. Mrs. Eugene Morris entertained at a lovely family dinner Easter Sunday for the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Josh Hawks and fa? mily, J. D. and Julie, frcm Portage, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Morris and children, Karen and Stephen of Midvale, and Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Christensen of Copperton. |
