PARIS h state-controll- NEW YORK (UPI) Prices were mixed at the close of the New York Stock Exchange Tuesday amid investor disappointment over the dollar's decline abroad and a slowdown in corporate profits. Trading was quiet. The Dow Jones industrial average, down nearly three points at the outset and up more than two later, was off 1.64 points to 803.96 shortly before the NYSE closed. The Dow had gained 20.35 points the previous four sessions. Advances led declines by a narrow margin among '.he 1.868 issues crossing the composite tape at 4 p.m. EST. NYSE turnover amounted to about 20,700,000 shares, compared with 24,440,000 traded Monday. Prices were mixed in moderate trading of American Stock Exchange issues. Analysts said the dollar's weakness on foreign exchanges early in the day contributed to some selling. A major factor in the market's latest revival has been the greenback's recovery abroad. Some selling also was attributed to a government after-ta- x corporate profits report that rose only 1.2 percent from the second quarter. They climbed 18 percent in the second quarter from the d first. Also, the government said the gross national product rose 3.4 percent.
