A published report printed Tuesday quoted a source in the Phillies' front office as saying that Ozark had signed a new contract, but both Ozark and Owens said the report was not true. Ozark's contract expires at the end of this season. "No one has said anything to me and I won't worry about it until later," Ozark said Tuesday while preparing his team for Wednesday night's opening game of the National League playoffs against the Los Angeles Dodgers. "Sure, I would like to come back." "I haven't met with Danny about it, nor has (Phillies' President) Ruly Carpenter," Owens said. "No decision will be made one way or the other until this whole thing is done, playoffs and World Series. It's a decision that was made in spring training and we'll stick to it." Ozark, 54, currently completing his sixth year with the Phillies, led his team to a 2 record this season and its third consecutive National League Eastern Division championship, which was clinched in the game of the season. Despite his three straight divisional titles, the low-ke- y Ozark had been criticized this season for not beenough on his high-pai- d players. tough ing The Phils' 1978 record was 11 games worse than their finish of the past two years, when the team was 1 each season. Ozark joined the Phillies in 1973 and his team finished in last place. The club improved to third the following season and rose to second place in 1975. ! j Qn -- P V J (Utility I A st The Sundance - Village Sports Den Junior Ski Racing Team will hold its fall orientation meeting for all former members and prospective members interested in joining the team. The race team, now in its sixth season, will be headed by its own coaching staff, under the guidance of Gary Stevens, with Kevin Hamilton and John all experienced USSA racers and Marshall coaches themselves. The team has grown and progressed remarkably in recent years with many of its racers skiing and doing very well in the Intermountain Division. Because of the increase in team size, the coaching staff feels that the limited number of spots on the team should be allocated to those with the interest, desire, and talent to become top quality ski racers. The race team is, however, open to all those between the ages of 8 and 18, boy or girl, who are interested in ski racing and in improving their own skiing abilities through a racing program. The team will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Village Sports Den, 465 N. University, Provo. All parents and racers are encouraged to attend.
