But the question of who is ultimately responsible financially may take the courts years to settle, according to a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration. The insurance companies will pay the death claims and probably the property claims for the two jumbo jet airliners promptly, but lawsuits to determine whether one or both airlines or the Spanish air traffic controllers were responsible appear to be inevitable. The estimate of more than $250 million by insurance circles in London put severe pressure on the stocks of large insurance companies on the London stock market. The biggest loss is the two planes themselves, around $200 million. Under the Montreal agreement of the International Air Transport Association, the two airlines are liable for up to $75,000 for each person killed. Although claimants do not have to show fault to collect, the airlines in theory could reduce the damages by showing they were not at fault. But in actual practice, the families of persons killed in international crashes on planes that operate in and out of the United States often collect more than the $75,000 limit in the courts. - pletely More than 550 people were killed in the crash the worst in aviation historv Wyoming Search Is Ended k y I March 16 A DETROIT (UPIi federal prosecutor today opened the trial o two Filipino nurses accused of poisoning hospital patients by telling the jury it will hear lew absolute f.icts jliout the tTiines The long awaited and controversial case So far. the government has made no mention of t h e m o v e though speculation has centered on a possible protest ot inadequate stalling at the hospital The two nurses are charged with poisoning nine patients at the Ann Arbor VA hospital with stalled the m U S District I outlining the charges against I'llipnu aiuso 30. and I eaiici.i P''M7. 32 He advised jurors lli.it evidence will l e technical, complii ate. and at times confusing I you believe ol one minute the ease will present all M.k k or .ill vv hile, forget it " Yanko said '11 you think theic will be no d'Hihts whatsoever about the (acts, vou re in for a siiipnse " ' II The nurses are charged With irin Kit n ii i' mm. patients with a hiumIc . muscle relaxant Pavilion with assistant U S Attorney Richaid Yanko Com 1 Russ,an Rouette PG iMi T i ma " SQUARE EAGLE Main riRnTnii Sprlnqville 7;30 S.
