Show WORLD OUTDOORS A fellow never has greater need for a friend than when enjoying enjoy-ing some form of sporting activity in the world outdoors. The "buddy" system so well-preached well-preached to swimmers is Just as applicable to boaters, fishermen, hikers, and campers. The world outdoors holds today only a few of the dangers that our forefathers had to face but there is sufficient danger Just the same. Only a fool goes swimming alone. No matter how excellent the physical condition or how great the swimming ability. Unexpected sickness or a sudden "cramp" nullifies nul-lifies this ability. Boating alone is equally dangerous. danger-ous. There is always the chance for a spill. A poor swimmer may be in dire trouble and chances are, an excellent swimmer will need a bit of help. Walking alone In the woods seems safe enough. We don't have to face many man-eating animals in this modern world of ours. But there Is always the danger of becoming be-coming lost in unfamiliar territory or suffering some accident. A slippery, slip-pery, moss-covered rock can be the cause of a fall resulting in a serious sprain or even a broken leg and this is no time to be alone. Fishing is fun but more fun for two than one. Water is always dangerous, whether one swims in it, rides in a boat, wades the riffles rif-fles or walks along the banks. Here, again, in fishing, there is the danger of injury through a fall; the chance of a plunge into deep water by a non-swimmer, or a poor one. There is always the danger of an unexpected illness, even for someone considered to be in the best of health. |
