One of the reasons is the baby population. There have been 140,000 newcomers to the state since 1980 and most of these were babies. In this county alone there were 8,046 babies born last year. Statewide, more than 45,000 infants are born each year. So the stock of potential mothers is growing, and it is also larger relative to the rest of the country. But despite the large families uate as your son. and high cost, most couples think it is worth it. They know they can't ever leave the house unless they find a babysitter. They know they'll be paying on their loan for years to come. They know they often feel like zombies from lack of sleep.
