(UPI) Jack Hastings of event at the 1982 Norwich, Vt., won the National Ski Jump Championship Sunday. Hastings, who finished third in Saturday's championship, jumped 109.5 and 99.5 meters Sunday with 224.5 total points. John Broman of Duluth, Minn., finished second with jumps of 110 and 96.5 meters and 220.7 total effort was the longest points. Broman's jump of the championship. Third place went to Ron Richard of Canada who had jumps of the 101.5 and 103 meters with 216.7 total points. In the junior division. Veli Rautio of Canada captured his second U.S. National Championship title when he jumped 92.5 and 90.5 meters for a total of points. Second was Larry Olsen of Minneapolis, Minn., who had rides of 89.0 and 96.0 and 174.9 total points. James Gaboriault of Lindenville, Vt.. finished third with jumps of 89 and 91 meters and 170.9. total points. SAN DIEGO (UPI) Keith Smith scored 17 points and Zack Jones added 16 Saturday night to lead San 2 win over Utah in a Western Diego State to a Athletic Conference game. It was the Aztecs' 12th straight win at home and their first win in eight meetings against the Utes. as overall the San Diego State raised their record to and 2 in the WAC. Smith, who also had 12 assists, led the Aztecs on a 23-- 2 scoring burst late in the first half as San Diego State moved out to a halftime lead. Utah cut the deficit to in the second half, but then San Diego State reeled off 10 of the next 12 points and were never again threatened. The 6:foot-- Weber State junior didn't do much in the first half Saturday night at Pocatello, Idaho, getting just two points. But, in the second half, Edwards went wild. He scored 21 points for 23 in the game and finished with six rebounds and four assists in the win over Idaho State.
