UTAH PAGE FIVE ORDINANCE NO. 85 CITY OF BINGHAM CANYON, UTAH An APPROPRIATION ORDIN-ANCE To Cover Expenditures for the Year 1961 Be it ordained by the City Coun-cil of the City of Bingham Canyon, Utah: SECTION I. That the following wmi be appropriated by the City of Bingham Canyon during the year 1961 for the following purposes! $ 7,600.00 for payment of Of-ficial Salaries 3,117.04 for operation and maintenance of City Hall 8,552.16 for payment of Gen-eral Operating Ex-penses 3,973.04 for operation of the Water Department 17,614.54 for operation of the Police Department 3,300.00 for operation of the Health Department 4,200.00 for operation of the Fire Department 18,186.17 for operation of the Street Department Total SECTION 2. In the opinion of the City Council, it is necessary for the peace, health and safety of the inhabitants of the City of Bing-ham Canyon that this ordinance become effective immediately, and therefore this ordinance shall take effect on the date of its publica-tion. Councilman Ross Cushing made a motion that the foregoing ordin-ance be adopted. Councilman Verl Peterson sec-onded the motion. Roll Call Vote was as follows: Councilman Ross M. Cushing, aye. ATTEST: Mayor MAE STILLMAN, City Recorder WEDDING Miss Kristene Glover, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. , Ivan Glover of Midvale, and Michael Page, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Pago of Bingham Canyon were united in marriage Friday night, Dec. 16, at 7:30 o'clock at the home of the bride's parents. Bishop Sharp sol-emnized the double ring ceremony. An open house honoring the newlyweds was held following the ceremony. The bride spoke her vows in a gown of white organdy and lace ruffles, fashioned with a shirred bodice and she wore a pearl tiara. A corsage of pink roses completed her ensemble. Miss Connie Ganzales attended the bride as bridesmaid. She wore a ballerina length dress of deep rose lace v.'ith a bolero jacket and her flowers were white carnations and pink roses. Junior bridesmaids were Sue and Genia Page, sisters of the bridegroom. Geoffrey Page, the groom's bro-ther, performed duties of best man. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Glover wore a pale pink lace dress and Mrs. Page, mother of the groom wore a green linen dress with bo-lero jacket. Both wore corsages of white and pink carnations. The newlyweds are making their home at 1811 E. 72nd South, Salt Lake City. ' Fire Ladies Holiday Social The Firemen's Auxiliary met Monday evening for their annual Christmas party and dinner. For the occasion the hall was decorated in seasonal decorations including two beautifully decorated Christ-mas tress and all appointments were carried out in the Christmas motif. Adding to the holiday scene was a fireplace with Santa Claus where gifts were placed. Favors were min-iature Santa Claus sleighs filled with Christmas candies. Twenty-fou- r members attended the festive affair which began with a 7 o'clock dinner. Guests were seated at a table centered with holly and candles. Afterwards bridge was played and prizes won by Mrs. Jack Householder Jr., Mrs. Robert King, Mrs. James McLeod, Mrs. Marlin Schultz and Mrs. Lawrence West. Gilts were exchanged. The com-mittee arranging the very lovely party were Mrs. Verio Kendrick, chairman; Mrs. Dean Lipsey, Mrs. A.. J. Sargent and Mrs. Phil Sand-erson. Next regular meeting will be January 9. Rebekah's Xmas Social Ruth Rebekah Lodge No. 7 held their annual Christmas dinner and party for members and their hus-band sat the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Murano, Copperton, last Sun-day at 5 :00 p.m. A delicious din-ner was enjoyed after which five hundred was played. Prizes were won by Mrs. Dorothy Smith, Mrs. Adele Delia Lucia, Jack House-holder Jr. and Joe Jenson. A Christ-mas theme was carried out in de-corations. Gifts were exchanged. Sixteen were present. Dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. D. Nielsen were Mr. and Mrs. Paul LaBounty and family, Bobbie, Jimmy and Kelly of Lead Mine. at Christmastime who otherwise might be forgotten. Membership is now being solicit-ed for the coming year. You may contact the newly elected president for 1961. The Silver Spurs Riding Club of Salt Lake County is made up of more than 40 top flight women performers who are distinguished for winning championships in the "A" class division throughout the Intermountain states. Silver Spurs are completing four years of riding performances. Out-standing entertaining features and trophy winning achievements are': La Vegas Helldorado Days cham-pions 3 years; Inteimountain states champions over mens" clubs; Salt Lake County Fair champions; Days of '47 parades and drills champions State Fairgrounds; performances at Utah State Fair special notices; Independence Day performances throughout Intermountain states; Many other championship trophies and appearances too numerous tc mention. Also won the state cham-pionship the last two years over all other clubs. Primarily the Silver Spurs is an exclusive social club organized with the thought of good wholesome fun in mind. However, a gala Fair and Dance is staged each year with Western Hospitality Unlimited as their theme, to mise money to Sub-F- or Santa. The theme of the much looked for affair is meant to stim-ulate the public interest, and to give all those who support this pro-ject a rousing western good time, and assure them that the monetary support of the worthy cause will bring happiness to many children Mr. and Mrs. Wm. D. Nielsen and Mrs. Maggie Peck visited Tuesday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Prigmore and family of Murray. MISS DOROTHY SIMKINS IS DECEMBER BRIDE Skaggs Memorial Chapel was the setting Tuesday, Dec. 20 for the marriage of Miss Dorothy Ann Sim-kin- s to Bert L. Dart. The Rev. Glen Hamlyn officiated. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest C. Sumkins, Cop-perton, and parents of the bride-groom are Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Dart, Price. After the ceren.ony, the couple was honored at a wedding break-fast given by the bridegroom's par-ents at the Hotel Utah Gold Room. That evening, they were further honored at a reception held at the home of the bride's parents in Copperton. f or her nuptial events, the bride wore a floor length gown of pure antique silk with a bodice of Chan-till- y lace. The skirt was fashioned with a tailored peplum cascading into a chapel train. She carried a white Bible with a cluster of roses and carnations. Mrs. A. Konald Kasteltc ot San Diego, Calif., was matron of honor for her sister. She wore a green peau de soie dress with a matching hat. Other attendants were Miss Merry Helen Simlcjis and Miss Kath leen Erma Simkins, other sisters of the bride, and Miss Shannon John-son. Miss Kristin Kastelic was flow-er girl. They wore Christmas green gowns of chiffon and velvet and carried muffs of white carnations. Glen Bradak was best man. Ush-ers were Kent E. Simkins, brother of the bride, and Wayne Owens. After a honeymoon to Las Vegas, Nev., the couple will make a home in Salt Lake City, where they will continue studies at the University of Utah. Entertaining at pre-nupti- al par-ties for the bride were Mrs. H. C. Jenkins, Mrs. Bernell Winter, Mrs. Maybello Burton and Mrs. Virginia Beck. Lorraine Tobiason of Seattle, Wash., who has been attending a special nursing course in New York Cjty the past five weeks, is expect-ed to arrive Saturday (tomorrow) to spend the holidays with her par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Tory Tobiason, Copperton. She will leave Jan. 2nd to return to Seattle. Christmas Social The 500 Club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Dispenza for their Christmas party last Friday night. Members attending were Mr. and Mrs. Hosmer Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Verl Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Verio Kendrick, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Ham and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bell. Pri-zes at cards were won by Mrs. And-erson and Mrs. Kendrick for the ladies and Mr. Kendrick and Hos-mer Peterson for the men. Lovely refreshments were served. G'fts were exchanged. A very delightful evening was enjoyed by all. school children of the parish. Hos-tesses were the senior choir mem- - -- bers: Michael Ann Creedon, Betty Rodriguez, Julia Menna and Joann Gallegos. Cleaning The general Christmas cleaning of Holy Rosary Church was held Wednesday evening. Helping to give the interior a spic 'n span glow for Christmas day were the follow-ing ladies: Mrs. Ross Cushing, Mrs. Eddie Brentel, Mrs. Boyd Ander-son, Mrs. Sam Lovat, Mrs. Ronald J. McCormick, Mrs. Hugo Bianchi, Mrs. Rita Ugarte, Joann Gallegos and Connie Mochizuki. A word of thanks to Eddie Brentel who was kind enough to repair the broken kneelers and polish tho floor. Lark Altar Boys and Choir Girls Christmas Party 26 altar boys and choir girls of St. Paschal's pariafh met Tuesday afternoon and enjoyed their Christ-mas party. Party games and danc-ing comprised the afternoon's en-tertainment after which refresh-ments were served by the girls. Gifts were presented to each mem-ber by Father Sullivan. A Spiritual Bouquet, and a Santa's Boot full of loot, including $15.00, was pre-sented to Father Sullivan by the children. Present was Mrs. J. A. Coffey and the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement. HOLY ROSARY CHURCH by Connie Mochizuki Choir Girls and Altar Boys Christmas Party Capitalizing on the yuletide sea-son, 46 choir girls and altar boys of Holy Rosary parish gathered at BCO hall for their annual Christ-mas party Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The group enjoyed a round of party games and light re-freshments. Presentation of individ-ual gifts was then made to each guest by .Father Sullivan, Who in turn was presented a Spiritual Bou-quet and a Christmas money tree holding $41.00 from the religion Christmas Social Members of the 7 o'clock dinner and bridge club gathered at the Panorama in Salt Lake City for their Christmas dinner party Thurs-day evening of last week. Those attending were Miss Mabel Neprud, Mrs. Robert Bailey, Mrs. Odell Pe-terson, Mrs. A. D. Christensen, Mrs. E. V. Knudsen, Mrs. B. J. Santis-teva- n, Mrs. O. S. Jensen, Mrs. Har-old W. Nielsen and Mrs. Eueene Morris. Afterwards they returned to Mrs. Peterson's home in Mid-val- e for bridge. Prizes were won by Miss Neprud and Mrs. Bailey. A very lovely evening was had by all. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Stone and daughter, Suzie, of Denver, Colo., are expected to arrive Saturday to spend the Christmas holidays with their parents, Mrs. Mabel Brimhall of Bingham and Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Stone of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. D. Nielsen and Mrs. Maggie Peck visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Peck and family and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Garahana and family of Kearns Wednesday evenijig. Friends will be interested to know that Bill Motis, former Bingham resident, who recently underwent major surgery at LDS hospital in Salt Lake City,, returned to his home in Cokesville, Wyo., by am-bulance last Saturday afternoon. Myron Fullmer, who has been confined in St. Mark's Hospital for two weeks, came home from the hospital Tuesday. American Legion Post No. 30 Xmas Party Held Dec. 15 Members of American Legion Post No. 30 of Bingham Canyon and partners gathered at the Man-hattan Club in Salt Lake City for their annual Christmas party last Thursday night, Dec 5. A social hour, (inner and dancing was en-joyed. During the evening, William Hennings was presented with a past commander's ring for having serv- - ed as commander of the post for two years. The committee in charge of arranging the party were Ross Pino, Vincent Miola and Mr. Henn-ings. Seventeen attended. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Johnson were Salt Lake visitors Saturday. W.B.A. Xmas Party The Women's Benefit Ass'n held its regular meeting and annual Christmas party last Saturday night Dec. I 7, at the home of Mrs. H. R. Gust, Copperton. Mrs. Gust and Mrs. Carrie Doyle were hostesses. A very delicious 6:30 o'clock tur-key dinner was served. A Christmas motii was carried out in appoint-ments. A miniature Christmas tree was the table centerpiece. After-wards a business meeting was held and contract bridge was played. Prizes were won by Mrs. W.D.S. Brown, Mrs. Helen Sullenger, Mrs. Pete Smith and Mrs. Gust. Other members enjoying the evening were Mrs. Norman T. Jacobsen, Mrs. Howard Harker, Mrs. Dan Good-win, Mrs. Lyde Nichols and Miss Agnes Sullenger who was a guest. Gifts were exchanged. A birthday party was held Sun-day at the home of Mr. and M.s. Larry Johnson honoring their dau-ghter, Wendy's fourth birthday. Guests helping her celebrate the occasion were Cheryl Moore, R. Hart, Susan Jo Householder, Celece Swenson, Bret Sax, Rocky Miller and Celeste Johnson. Lovely re-freshments were served. Wendy re-ceived many nice gifts. A delight-ful time was had by all. Christmas Party Mrs. Tory Tobiason was hostess to her pinochle club's annual Christ mas party at her home in Copper-to- n Monday night. The evening was spent playing various card games with all receiving a prize. All appointments, decorations and favors were carried out in the Christmas theme. Also adding to the festive scene was a beautifully decorated lighted Christmas tree. Members enjoying the evening were Mrs. Kenneth H. Davis, Miss Kay Braun, Mrs. Art Fike, Mrs. Dick Steele, Mrs. John Adamek, Mrs. Bill Johnson, Mrs. Alton Fike, Mrs. Ceorge Dahlstrom and the hostess. Tasty late refreshments were serv-ed. Gifts were exchanged. Ceorge R. Wells is leaving Fri-day night (tonight) by plane for Bellvue, Wash., to spend the Christ-mas week end with his daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd St od dart and family. He will return next Wednesday. Thank You Mrs. H. R. Gust wishes to ack-nowledge with thanks and appreci-ation the many Christmas greeting cards and well wishes received from friends and neighbors of Bingham and Copperton. Thanks again. Arriving next Wednesday by plane from Menlo Park, Calif., to spend a few days visiting with Fath-er John J. Sullivan is Father James Poggi. Father Poggi is a professor at St. Patrick's Seminary at Menlo Park and former classmate of Fath-er Sullivan. Harold Anderson of Salt Lake City enjoyed dinner and visiting Sunday with his sister and brother in law, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Lipsey and family. Mrs. Alice Brisk in company with Mr. and Mrs. Steve Homyak of Denver, Colo., is leaving next Tues-day to visit two weeks with rela-tives' in Long Beach, Calif. Visiting with relatives in Bing-ham Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ar-nold Swenson and Mrs. Raymond Archibald of Eureka. They visited with Mrs. Edith Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Swenson and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Sullengej-- . Joe Ugarte, who is attending the University of San Francisco at San Francisco, Calif., is expected to arrive Saturday to spend Christmas vacation with his mother, Mrs. Rita Ugarte and family. |
