Legislators Speak State legislators Wallace H. Gardner and Francis Lundell both spoke briefly, urging the citizens to weigh and study all facets of the questions carefully before a decision is made and then give their support to that decision. ,The major item of the controversy was the matter of certain additions and improvements to the city's Majn Street, the installation of which apparently might hinge upon the acceptance of parallel parking. One citizen asked: "If we go for parallel parking we get these things but if we don't go for it we wool get them, is this right?" Road officials avoided a direct commitment. Among1 these, disputed items were new lighting for Main Street, added traffic controls, and new surfac. tng for the street Almost without exception the citizens who got up to speak .were strongly opposed to parallel parking. Several times during the session catcalls or laughter greeted statements from commission officials. As the meeting closed the weary city dads were left with the final decision on the thorny matter squarely in their laps. Mayor Moran in a brief speech to the group promised they would do their utmost to do what they felt would be best for Spanish Fork. Representing the Road Commission in ddltionto Chairman Strong were two members of the commission, the district and slate engineers, department Safety engineer, and an attorney from the Utah Attorney General's office.
